Brian LaGuardia

BRIAN LAGUARDIA

Composer, Orchestrator, Arranger

About

Wonder, curiosity and collaboration are the central tenets of Brian’s varied and prolific musical career. After receiving a world-class education at the University of Southern California from industry titans like Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, The Avengers), Bear McCreary (God of War: Ragnarok, Rings of Power), Garry Schyman (Bioshock, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War) and Austin Wintory (Journey, Stray Gods), Brian quickly found work on professional music and creative teams of every size and shape.

For nearly a decade, Brian has contributed to everything from AAA games, Marvel television shows, Grammy-nominated soundtracks, BAFTA and Hugo award-winning indie games and films both large and small. He also manages a busy arranging and engraving schedule with ensembles like the London Symphony, the Colorado Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Brussels Philharmonic, the BBC Proms, the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and the Game Music Festival Orchestra in Warsaw, Poland.

In 2023, Brian was one of twelve finalists selected internationally for the Young Talent Award and invited to Poland for the Film Music Festival. That same year, he was one of five international applicants selected for the Stan LePard GDC scholarship, which has led to an ongoing collaboration with Austin Wintory on arrangements for the first-ever GDC Developer’s Concerts.

Most recently, Brian has shipped his first two video game titles as composer. One of those is Shujinkou, a 100+ hour epic JRPG boasting nearly seven hours of music six years in the making. As Lead Composer for this title, Brian was responsable for mantaining thematic cohesion, writing and producing over two of those hours and handling the majority of the audio implementation via FMOD. In spite of its very recent release and its status as a brand-new IP, Shujinkou and its score is already receiving critical acclaim. One reviewer even proclaims:

“…between Brian LaGuardia’s majestic main theme and at least a dozen compositions built around traditional instruments like the koto, shimasen, and taiko, Shujinkou repeatedly soars…At present, it seems like a solid contender for one of this year’s best scores.”

In spite of his busy schedule, Brian is always eager to meet new creative minds!
